Mildred’s Temple Kitchen opened with a heartfelt philosophy. We’re here because we love food, people and the simple pleasures of life: our temple is the place where we practice our devotion.

Well hidden in the heart of Liberty Village, Mildred’s Temple Kitchen reflects our commitment to providing locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, simply and sumptuously prepared. Bright and industrial, yet relaxing and intimate, the warmth of Mildred’s lingers long after the guests have gone home.

Two Kids With A Dream

Donna Dooher and Kevin Gallagher, owners of Mildred’s Temple Kitchen, have enjoyed more than 30 successful years in the Toronto hospitality industry.

It all began with their catering business, Avant-Goût Catering, followed by the wildly successful Mildred Pierce Restaurant on Sudbury Street and Cookworks Cooking Studio. They went on to publish the award-winning “Out to Brunch with Mildred Pierce” Cookbook and produced “The Cookworks with Donna Dooher” for the Food Network, which aired in over 60 countries around the world.

In 2008, the dynamic duo opened Mildred’s Temple Kitchen in Liberty Village; Donna as head chef and Kevin as restaurant operator. The restaurant, named after the 1945 film noir crime drama Mildred Pierce, is now celebrating its 10 Year Anniversary!

Donna and Kevin have set trends for what is now a familiar approach to hospitality in the Toronto culinary scene – innovation, creativity and exceptional dining experiences.

Our Food Philosophy

At Mildred’s Temple Kitchen, we take a simple approach to cooking and the joys of the table.

We believe that fresh food prepared from scratch and served in manageable portions will keep one fueled and well invigorated.

We believe that ingredients should be sourced as close to home as possible and cooked in season but we are not opposed to serving olives from Italy, grapes from Burgundy and spice form Kerala.

We believe our menu offers overall options for every type of lifestyle, whether you're a hardworking gym bunny or take a more sedentary approach to life.

We believe food is culture and best enjoyed around the table, breaking down barriers, bringing people together and enjoyed with reckless abandon.
