Mildred’s Wild Blueberry Compote of course goes great on top of fluffy buttermilk pancakes. If you ever find yourself with a bit left over, we have a few fun (and yummy!) ways to use up the last bits and treat yourselves.
Yogurt Parfaits
This one is a favourite - grab some yogurt (greek for that extra punch of protein), add in some granola crumble and plop a good bit of wild blueberry compote on top for some sweet ooey goodness. For all the healthy ones out there, add in a sprinkle of wheat germ for extra nutrients. Especially for those kiddos.
On Top of Cheesecakes
There’s no such thing as a bad cheesecake, but you can always make them yummier. Wild bluebbery compote would go great on any, but to let it shine we love placing it on top of a creamy vanilla cheesecake. The crunchier the bottom the better.
Make Your Ice Cream Even Sweeter
Raise your hand if you have a sweet tooth. We do too. You know what to do. Grab a bowl, add a scoop or two, or more of ice cream and top it off with some wild bluebbery compote. The kids especially love this. Who wouldn’t?
Turn a Boring Oatmeal Fun
Oatmeal is a quick breakfast or treat and it quickly gets boring if you’re attempting to finish the big pot you made a few days ago. We’ve all been there. What do we like to do? You guessed it. A wee bit of wild bluebbery compote does the trick to spice up some oatmeal. Just make sure your compote is at a similar temperature as your oatmeal for full enjoyment. Looking for extra texture? Add on some toasted walnuts or even dried coconut flakes. Yum!
Mixed in With some Q
Alas, something a little bit more savoury. This one goes according to taste, so start small. Mix in some wildblueberry compote with your fave regular bbq sauce. Then serve on top of delicious chicken or pork. Sweet and salty - the perfect combo.
